Spinning Southward: Originally trained as an animator, I never really saw myself making documentaries when I graduated college. Once I picked up a camera and started shooting, however; I became hopelessly enamored. Primarily self trained in editing and camera work, I got my chops while shooting and editing my first film in 2003, a documentary of hip hop focused on break dancing. Upon completion of the film I moved to LA, where I intercepted Mike and John Logsdon on their Spinning Southward project. Spinning Southward was the 16,000 mile bike ride that Mike and John had created in memory of their mother, Jean Logsdon, who had lost her life to a brain tumor when they were teenagers. Having lost my mother to a brain tumor as well, I was immediately drawn to the project, so much so that I quit my job 3 weeks after meeting the brothers and joined the ride to document the journey. 10,000 miles later in September 2006, after 10 months of filming, the ride was over and production of the documentary began.
